Benjamin Romo Named Director of disABILITY Support Services

Benjamin is the new director of disABILITY Support Services

总监, Romo is responsible for ensuring academic accommodations, as defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act as amended (ADAAA) for registered students.

Other areas of responsibility include oversight of disability Support Services programs, 支持人员, departmental budgets, and the development of strategic planning to enhance department offerings.

溴网络.jpgRomo was previously a student compliance coordinator with the 阿拉莫大学 区, responsible for coordinating district and cross-college student programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Prior to arriving at the 阿拉莫大学 区, he spent nine years working in various roles with the Department of Family Protective Services where he performed highly complex investigations involving physical and sexual abuse, neglect and exploitation of disabled individuals living in their home or in state funded facilities or programs.

A U.S. 陆军老兵, Romo was a member of the military police and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Hanau, 德国, where he did vehicular and foot patrol, responding to traffic accidents, domestic disturbances and conducted security checks of businesses, 房屋, 和学校.

Romo holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Austin 社区 大学, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Texas State University, and a master’s degree in criminal justice leadership and management from Sam Houston State University.
